Second Grade Religion

Dear Second Grade Parents,

I hope that all of you have begun a most happy and holy Advent!

As part of our Advent celebration in Second Grade, we will be focusing on offering charitable works to Our Lord. I ask that by Friday, each child bring in a small gift wrapped box, and a plastic baggie. (Make sure that the box has an opening in which to slip in some paper!) Each child will have a box in which they will place paper hearts each time they do something charitable or loving for someone else. On Christmas morning, they can offer their boxes to the Child Jesus as His birthday gift.

What a wonderful way to keep Christ the center of CHRISTmas! Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

God Bless You,

Mrs. Quinonez

Second Grade Religion Teacher

In Religion this week we will be discussing Advent and the birth of Christ!  It should be an exciting week.  Remember to talk with your students about the significance of the Advent wreath and what we are preparing for.

We will be having a Quiz on Thursday.  Here is what your children will need to know:

Jesus was born in a city called Bethlehem.

Jesus was placed in a manger filled with straw.

Shepherds were the first people to learn about the newborn Savior.

God did not wish to share His life with the rich first, but with the poor.

An angel came to the shepherds to tell them about the birth of Jesus.

Wise men brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to Jesus.

A wicked man named Herod ruled over the land where Jesus was born.

God wanted Joseph to take Mary and Jesus away from Bethlehem.
