October 14-17

October 14, 2008 | Print This Homework Post

Because of the short week, please be aware that some of the homework may be different then usual.  We will be finishing up our first unit of English this week and will have a test next week.  I will send home a review sheet soon.

Our writing skills continue to improve and I am very pleased with the students’ progress.  I am sending home another worksheet this week that will need to filled out at home.  This time we are writing saints, particularly the saint your student plans to dress as for the annual All Saints Day Party.  Please help your child to find the information and to fill out the worksheet.  It should be returned next Tuesday, October 21.

We are half way through our science unit on plants.  It is perfect timing, as the plants in our garden have really begun to take off.  If you have a chance to come by and see our garden, please do.  Remember that studying a little each night from the science study guide will help your child be prepared for the unit test.

In history we have finished our study of the American Revolutionary War and have begun to learn about our country’s constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the branches of government.

In religion we will begin to talk about the 10 Commandments.  Our study of the 10 Commandments will last us almost until Christmas.  At that point there will be a final test and the students are expected to have memorized the 10 Commandments.  We will continue with our weekly quizzes.  Please remember that your student has a study guide and should be reviewing the information they have filled in on it each night.
