Homework September 8-12

September 7, 2008 | Print This Homework Post

As our first full week of school I expect that the 3rd grade class will really get into the swing of things.  Things this week will really take off so please note some new assignments that were not homework last week.  We will begin our vocabulary book this week and each night your student should study a few words to help prepare them for Friday’s test.  We will also be starting to read Mr. Popper’s Penguins.  We will begin the reading in class, but the students will be required to finish the reading at home and to do a worksheet that corresponds with each chapter.  This assignment will not be due until the following Tuesday, in this case Tuesday, September 16.

In grammar we are reviewing subjects and predicates, and diagramming simple sentences.  The students will have 2 short grammar assignments for homework this week to help reinforce what I am reviewing with them in school.  We will also be writing book reports for our summer reading book, Island of the Blue Dolphins.

In history we are discussing the lead up to the American Revolutionary War and in science we are learning about insects.

It is going to be a busy week, but I think the students are ready for it!
