Dear Class,
        I am very pleased with your progress thus far; thanks for all your hard work.  We will plunge right into the new book report book, with a chapter and paragraph due every day.  On Monday we will take all the tests we didn’t do last week and talk about some techniques is writing and how best to summarize a chapter of a book in a paragraph.  We’ll be doing them more “Journal style” from now on, in that you will express how it affected YOU and what lessons, questions, and ideas it brought up in your mind.  This should be better at generating class discussion this way.
