Faustina Academy Summer Reading

For 2nd – 6th: Each student is encouraged to select two books from his respective grade level. After reading his/her chosen two books, each student must write a brief essay about ONE of the books.
Second and third graders will write a simple overview of the book. At this age, you may choose to have your student tell you about the book, and you write down what he/she says. He/She should then copy their “narration” in their own writing. Alternatively, your student may prefer to write the entire essay on their own.

Fourth through sixth graders should write an essay that demonstrates knowledge of the story. Students should describe the book’s main characters, setting, plot, and lessons or themes. Essays will be graded on proper spelling, punctuation, and style according to their respective grade levels. Essays will count toward first quarter English grades.
